If you can change your logo to include the circle it can look really good with Google +. By scaling your image down will guarantee that your logo is visible.

By changing cover photos of your pages can ruin of a lot of designers’ lives, purely because the size keep changing. Therefore the cover photo should be somewhere around 1024 x 579. It’s important to keep in mind that the image on the device or screen size for the best user experience should be in high resolution.
