Google Webmaster Tools add new feature called index status which tracks a site urls indexed for protocol such as HTTP, HTTPS and for verified sub directories.
“This new feature helps the webmasters to monitor different parts of your site” Google explained in its blog post. For example, each url has its own data in Webmaster tools status report and information about they are verified in different sections.
The main highlights of announcement by Google: The new change in webmaster tools reports if your website on HTTPS protocol or indexed under separate sub domains. The reports in the webmaster tools look something like below:
"The latest notation has been added to the Index Status graph for 9th March, displaying when we started collecting this information" Google webmaster tools posted in its blog post. “The new feature does not affect the indexing of your sites or impact on overall urls indexed on your site. It affects view of the reports displayed in webmaster tool user interface.”

- It’s important to verify all variations of existing domain in Google webmaster tools and domain, urls which canonical are configured accordingly.
- If you are submitting your sitemap I of your website in Google webmaster tool, do so for the preferred variation said GWT. “According to new feature each host name and protocol robots.txt files are treated as separately.”
